Alan Brazil has called claims that Tottenham vs. Chelsea was a great game to be “absolute garbage.”
The pundit was on talkSPORT this morning and wasn’t impressed with Monday’s chaotic game in North London.
Ange Postecoglou‘s side were defeated 4-1 by their London rivals, with Mauricio Pochettino returning to Spurs for the first time since his dismissal in 2019.
The score, however, only tells half the story because the Spurs played the majority of the game with fewer players.
Cristian Romero was sent off in the 33rd minute, and Destiny Udogie received a second yellow card 10 minutes after halftime, despite the fact that both players had previously avoided being sent off for earlier challenges.
It was a game with five goals, the same number of goals ruled out, two red cards, and nine VAR checks.
After a bizarre first 45 minutes, 12 minutes of injury was added in the first half alone.
While many seemed to enjoy the match between Tottenham and Chelsea on Monday night, Alan Brazil was not one of them.
Brazil calls Tottenham‘s match against Chelsea “absolute garbage.”
Brazil reacted on talkSPORT on Wednesday morning after hearing that many people enjoyed Tottenham‘s defeat to Chelsea.
“I know a lot of people say [the] Spurs vs. Chelsea game was fantastic, but how many of them are true?” “That’s not for me,” he explained. “That’s not football for me.”
“I’m going to tell you something, did you know there were 21 minutes added between the first half and the second half?” Ally McCoist interjected.
“It’s garbage, absolute garbage,” Brazil said.
While Tottenham‘s defeat to Chelsea provided plenty of fodder for discussion, it’s difficult to disagree with Brazil in some ways.
The first half was spent mostly waiting for the VAR to review multiple decisions and rule out goals.
While many people understandably enjoyed Monday night’s game, you have to wonder how much better it would have been without VAR constantly interfering.
