“What a player,” James Maddison exclaimed after seeing his 21-year-old Tottenham teammate yesterday

Senegal’s elimination from the African Cup of Nations yesterday was a blow for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pape Matar Sarr’s team, but James Maddison was nonetheless impressed with the player’s performance.

Senegal was one of the favourites to win the AFCON this year, but they shocked everyone last night by drawing 1-1 and then losing 5-4 to Ivory Coast on penalties. Sarr is going back to Tottenham now.

James Maddison was impressed by Pape Matar Sarr, his Tottenham teammate.

Pape Matar Sarr was acquired by Tottenham from FC Metz during the summer of 2021.

Although the Senegalese midfielder was thought to be a player not yet ready for the Premier League, he was a tremendous possibility.

Sarr returned to the Mets after a year on loan, but he was hardly given any chances in the previous campaign. But ever since Ange Postecoglou arrived, the 21-year-old has always performed exceptionally well.

Sarr has continued to wow at the African Cup of Nations with his incredible performances. Senegal’s last three games have all been starts for him, and in the 3-1 victory over Cameroon, he even recorded an assist.

Regretfully, the 21-year-old’s team was eliminated from the competition yesterday.

Spurs player James Maddison wrote on his Instagram Story during extra time, “Supporting my boy Pape_Matar_Sarr_15.”

“What a player!”

Sarr is Tottenham’s midfield’s future and current player.
Sarr has been outstanding under Ange Postecoglou, who has turned Tottenham Hotspur into a fantastic team to watch.

The 21-year-old was not anticipated to be a major contributor for Spurs this season. At the end of the previous season, some even anticipated that he would go out on loan. He was only seen as a young player.

But Sarr‘s manager has faith in him, and Sarr has shown that faith with several outstanding midfield performances since Postecoglou recognised something in him.

Sarr is still twenty-one. We are confident that he will be a pillar of the Spurs midfield for many years to come because he has a “absolutely immense future” ahead of him.
