Nottingham Forest fell to Fulham 1-0 at home, as the Reds were once again forced to lament some extremely bad calls made by the referee and VAR.
Soon after the break, Murillo was judged to have fouled Andreas Pereira, leading to Fulham‘s lone goal from the penalty spot.
Later in the play, Josh Smith was not even called to the screen to investigate a potential foul on Anthony Elanga, which cost Forest a penalty.
It’s amazing how blatantly obvious errors can be at the highest level of English football, and for Forest supporters, it’s starting to become a running joke.
Despite the referee Rob Jones’s suggestion that he had not awarded the free kick and that the player had played the ball, Morgan Gibbs-White was sent off last weekend in Brighton.
However, Forest is once again being given the raw deal when it comes to decisions, and following yesterday, another apology is most likely in the works.
The feelings Evangelos Marinakis had toward the referees during Forest vs Fulham
Yesterday, the owner of the Forest was present at the City Ground and witnessed the Reds suffer a setback. To put it mildly, the penalty kick was severe, thus it’s surprising that the one on Elanga wasn’t recommended for review if that one is. This also isn’t an explanation. Although Forest didn’t deserve to win yesterday, the match was once again decided by a referee who was watching from a distance.
According to The Telegraph, Marinakis lost his cool with the officials yesterday after Forest suffered their first loss of the season.
A senior Forest source is quoted in the story as well, and it is evident from this that the club is once again dissatisfied.

They allegedly stated:
“The Premier League’s reputation is being destroyed, and its clubs are suffering as a result of the refereeing standards.”
“It seems that the VAR is not making consistent decisions.
“The VAR process still lacks adequate openness. The fans also bear the brunt of it.
“VAR is currently failing clubs and supporters alike, despite its intended improvement of the game.”
Forest had the opportunity to use VAR to add color to the mast.
We support the club, certainly, given its recent mistakes, but even as supporters, it’s difficult to feel too sorry for them when Forest chose to keep VAR!
The Premier League teams cast votes in the summer to decide whether or not to keep VAR, and Wolves was the only team to vote against it. The final score was 19-1 in favor of keeping VAR. Although Forest was obviously persuaded by the ruling class that things will improve, this hasn’t shown up in the last few games.
No matter how ridiculous it all seems, Forest won’t garner much sympathy for their complaints about the VAR as it stands.
But Marinakis is obviously not content once more. The impending international break would likely help Forest by allowing things to settle down and giving them a chance to reflect on the season thus far.
