Mark Robins believes exciting Coventry City forward Tatsuhiro Sakamoto will ‘destroy’ defenders once he gets fully up to speed in the Championship.

The £1.2million summer signing from Belgian club KV Oostende made only his third league start for the Sky Blues at the weekend, getting through 90 minutes for the second time in the division. And it was certainly an eye-catching performance with the Japan international getting the fans’ vote for man of the match in the 1-1 draw with Norwich City, during which he went agonisingly close to snatching a late winner with a diving header.

The 26-year-old, who has mainly played a bit-part from the bench so far this term, was deployed at wing-back against the Canaries, starting the game on the right where he went head-to-head with former Sky Blues player Sam McCallum, and later showed his versatility by switching across to cover on the left amid a number of late changes by the manager.
