Two days ago, journalist Philipp Hinze revealed that Tottenham Hotspur and RB Leipzig were finalising a deal for Timo Werner.
The forward has been with the Bundesliga team in Spain over the winter break. They flew back to Germany on Sunday morning, with him on board.
According to Bild, the 27-year-old will not be staying in Leipzig for long due to his upcoming transfer to Tottenham.
Leipzig has reached an agreement with Spurs, and the latter has also negotiated contract specifics with Werner.
According to reports, the Germany international ‘will soon travel’ to London to sign a loan deal with Tottenham, who will pay his entire wage [€10 million per year] during his brief stay.
According to Bild, Ange Postecoglou‘s side has a purchase option worth €20 million that is active until the end of June. Tottenham first made contact last Wednesday, and talks have advanced fast since then, with the operation expected to be completed soon.
Leipzig technical director Mario Gómez has spoken with Sport1, and they claim he has ‘indirectly confirmed’ the former Chelsea player’s loan move to Tottenham.
“It benefits everyone. Germany benefits from it. We benefit from this since we get a player started. Tottenham have assured us that he will play on a regular basis,” he stated.
